Sydney May 9th 2016 –
Single seater drivers Aidan Wright, Jon Collins and Garnet Patterson have been drafted by Infinity Race Engineering, to test their recently acquired ADESS LMP3 for the Asian Le Mans Series. The test will be conducted at the newly resurfaced Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia under the watchful eyes of team boss C.Q Loh and engineer Patrick Cahill.
The Australian-Malaysian squad will be competing in the LMP3 class this year after finishing 3rd in the GT class championship last season in a Ferrari 458 GT3
The newly created LMP3 category is an entry level formula to Le Mans type prototype endurance racing aimed at developing young and gentlemen drivers alike, allowing them to develop their skills and experiences at continental championships before moving up to LMP2 in Europe.
The Asian Le Mans Series was introduced by the Automobile Club de lÓuest (ACO) aiming to attract teams and drivers from the Asian Pacific region by offering a coveted invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the champions of the LMP2, LMP3 and GT categories respectively; essentially offering a fast track to Le Mans in an otherwise long campaign in Europe.
“I think that LMP3 is the natural path following F3 and Formula Masters. Like all drivers my goal is to do it professionally, and every drivers dream is to tick the Le Mans 24 Hour box. Putting together a successful campaign is important as it would open up doors to Europe. I am certainly looking forward to Sepang.” Garnet Patterson
Infinity Race Engineering is a well-regarded GT team running their programs in Asia. Amongst other achievements, they campaigned Earl Bamber in 2013 to his championship win in his rookie year in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia under the Nexus Racing banner. Earl Bamber went on to win the 2015 Le Mans 24Hr in the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 with Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy.
The team along with their technical partner, the chassis manufacturer, ADESS AG will be shaking down their ADESS-03, as they build up to the opening round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup in Sepang, Malaysia on the 27th-29th of May 2016.
